DIY SOS New Ross Big Build was an amazing project in terms of scale, ambition and with regard to the very nature of the project in providing a beautiful and comfortable home to such a deserving family.

Killeshal Driver, John Brickland and Garden Designer, Peter Donegan

I have had the pleasure of felling very good about how my job benefits others many times during my working life. Years ago I worked in Medical device manufacturing and was involved in the production of things like medical catheters, coronary stents and heart pumps.

Since working in the precast concrete industry I am always happy to know that I work with a company producing the materials to build schools and hospitals and houses, and even those park benches that provide people with a moment of contented comfort and respite when out for a walk. But rarely have I felt so proud as I do now, knowing that Killeshal Precast played a part in giving the Aylward Family a happy home.

Motor Neurone Disease or MND (see more here: MND) is the kind of condition that I think would leave me feeling utterly defeated and unable to cope or go on, but seeing the strength and dignity and deep love shared by this family and their incredible determination to squeeze the juice out of every second of life that they can share is inspiring beyond measure.

DIY SOS New Ross

Killeshal’s involvement in the DIY SOS New Ross Big Build was to supply a number of large outdoor planters to be used by international award winning Garden Designer Peter Donegan (see Peter Donegan Garden Design & Landscaping).

The large garden was to have a number of different areas with feature elements including a stunning piano shaped barbeque, and Peter wanted to create a substantial divider in the garden and used the Killeshal Planters to create something much more beautiful and appealing than a simple wall or fence.

It was something of an adventure getting the planters delivered. The site is located down narrow country roads and I have to say, driver John Brickland was a legend getting our Killeshal truck and its forklift around some of those corners running up to the site.

See gallery below for some photos from that day. If you would like to see more on Killeshal’s precast concrete planters, see here: Outdoor Planters
